168 health care workers in Apac, Uganda, are now able to visit more patients, since they have been equipped with bicycles. In Uganda there are a large number of volunteer health care workers, who each serve the households in a specific region with house calls and outreach on health issues. They used to do everything on foot. But now a Bike4Care programme has been launched in this part of Uganda, whereby the health care workers are using bicycles. On 23th of July 2012 the official launch of the Bike4Care programme took place, whereby the health workers were handed over their bicycles. This programme is sponsored by Bernard van Leer foundation.
