Two groups of each 15 farmers have been trained in bicycle maintenance and basic repair by our local partner organisation Orude. The groups are located in Bugiri district in Uganda. The farmers are going to use a bicycle to access better markets. They are currently selling their products on nearby markets. The main trading centre is app. 20 km from their residence. With a bicycle, this market comes within their reach. And since the prices on in the main trading centre are higher, they can get more profit of their products. The farmers buy the bicycles on credit via local Saving and Credit Cooperatives. The bicycles will be handed over to them in the next weeks.
