On the 9th of June Bikeventures, partner of CooP-Africa, organised the 2nd boda boda beauty contest in Kisumu, Kenya. Kisumu is known for the large number of boda boda bicycle riders. CooP-Africa supports boda boda riders and creates opportunities for them to expand their business.
Boda boda riding is a vulnerable profession. The media often write about boda boda riders as being a nuisance. When in fact boda boda riders have a noble profession. They work hard to earn a living, bicycles don’t take up a lot of space on the road, don’t pollute and the rider is keeping fit. That is why CooP-Africa supports bicycle users in Kenya in doing their business.
All boda boda riders of Kisumu were invited to participate and join the boda boda beauty contest. The bicycles were marked on 3 criteria: safety, comfort and beauty. The safest, most comfortable and most beautiful bicycles were awarded with a number of bicycle-prices, like a tricycle and a trailer. The beauty contest shows that many boda boda riders are putting in effort to make their bicycle safe and good looking. CooP-Africa wants to award those riders, who ensure their bicycle is safe and nice, and give them positive attention and respect.
