On World Environment Day, June 5th, it was Bike2Clean day in Kisumu, Kenya. A group of people hit the streets to clean the neighbourhood Nyalenda, an informal settlement in Kisumu, of street litter. The enthusiastic volunteers took the opportunity to showcase the need for environmental awareness in Kenya. “We want to show how easy it is to keep our environment clean if everyone participates” according to one of the volunteers. Bicycles, tricycles and trailers were used for the collection of the waste and the transporting to the ships and dumpsites. For more information about the Bike2Clean project, click here.
