In the last 2 months, 334 bicycles have been assembled for health workers in Northern Uganda. The bicycles were locally assembled under supervision of the professional BSPW-staff. By doing so work was generated locally and the people doing the assembling were learning on the job. The bicycles for the health workers are branded with a red colour on the mudguards and front carrier. Initially, some of the bicycles were by mistake assembled with the regular black mudguards. But to make the bicycles stand out as Bike4Care bicycles, the black mudguards were replaced by the special red ones. The bicycles will be handed to the health workers later this year.
