The ‘Centraal Bureau Fondsenwerving’ (CBF) is an independent foundation in the Netherlands that oversees the collection of money of charitable organisations. Charitable organisations can obtain a CBF certification or certificate if they meet the requirements of the CBF, concerning trustworthy fundraising and spending. In late January 2012, CooP-Africa received the CBF certificate for small charities.
In the past, Coop-Africa indicated in media and publications not to apply for a CBF certificate, because the assessment costs were disproportionate related to the sums the foundation works with. However, in the past year Coop-Africa has grown (and therefore the projects, amounts and the importance of proper supervision by a body such as the CBF), and the CBF created a certificate specially for small charities (for a lower assessment rate) . This made us decide that a CBF certification fits Coop-Africa very well at this moment.
Coop-Africa is very proud to have received the certificate and will work towards fulfilling the requirements of the CBF. You can feel confident to (continue) support(ing) Coop Africa.
