In Kisumu Kenia 100 health care workers cycle on a Bike4Care bicycle. Althought cycling is a common phenomenon in this region, last saturday Cycling Out of Poverty organised cycling lessons for health care workers. The Training began with theory about the road rules, signs and symbols and position on the road. Because only a few bicycle lanes in Kisumu are available, the position on the road is not so easy. Sometimes you are considered to cycle on the pavement, and sometimes on the road, but that is not always properly marked. Also liability in case of an accident was addressed, and what you can do to minimize accidents. People could exersice at a training parcours. Finally some basic elements in cycling technique have been discussed. After this training health care workers can confidently cycle on the road.
