Since 2006, women in Burkina Faso are able to aquire a bicycle-on-credit via our partner organisation AVO. Hundreds of women have benefited from this programme. The bicycle enables them to generate more income for their family. Most women are small entrepreneurs and are selling their products on the market: from ground nuts, to local beer to fish. The bicycle enables them to move faster and transport more products. This week, AVO staff has been visiting women who have applied for a bicycle on credit. The intake form covers baseline questions about their current situation (such as income), the choice of bicycle they want (4 types), and the payment arrangements (monthly amount).
