The primary target groups of our partner organisation in Burkina Faso (AVO) are widows, orphans and families infected and/or affected with HIV/AIDS. The creditworthiness of HIV/AIDS patients is very low, so giving bicycles on credit comes with a high risk of default. AVO developed a project in which families infected and/or affected with HIV/AIDS can utilise tricycles and bicycles to start a small trade business with products made at AVO (such as soap, cloths, etc.) and/or other products (such as soft drinks and snacks). Profit of the trade is shared between the families infected and/or affected with HIV/AIDS. At the same time the tricycles have the ultimate opportunity to operate as a riding billboard. AVO is selling the advertisements. Income from the advertisements is allocated for maintenance of the tricycles and bicycles.
• Target group: families infected and/or affected with HIV/AIDS
• Period: Since 2010
• Supported by: private donors + 1%CLUB
