We envision that more citizens of Jinja, Uganda, can cycle and want to cycle from more interests/social groups for more reasons and more often to prevent potential carbon emission to be released. We hereby target to educate the general public of the benefits of cycling and advise and lobby with the government to begin to make provisions for cycling infrastructure to help increase the uptake of cycling by as many as possible for the greater good of all especially looking at issues of climate change, the war on poverty and the fight to reduce the disease burden arising from sedentary urban lifestyles. The envisioned obvious and fair choice to cycle safely in an attractive city directly benefits the general public, the economy and environment. Cycling out of Poverty Foundation has established strategic partnerships with Jinja City Council, Wevelgem Municipality (Belgium) and Mobycon (The Netherlands) to improve the cycling climate in Jinja.

IKI Small Grants is carried out by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative based on a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
